Compared to smoking, it is found that vaping has lower level of health and safety risks. So it can be substituted with cigarette/cigar smoking. Even though its makers have claimed that these electronic cigarettes are meant to help people to quit smoking, these are more like a fad that may incorrectly look cooler to some folks.

How exactly is it different from smoking?

Vaping is a method of smoking that involves inhaling fumes generated by nicotine-based or nicotine-free liquids. It tends to reduce over 70 types of carcinogens in the process that may otherwise be present in regular cigarette smoking and which increases the risks of getting cancer. Many e-cigarettes available focus on a nicotine-free vaping pen to promote a healthy lifestyle.

Despite the fact that these e-cigarettes are meant to lower your traditional cigarette-smoking tendencies, there are chances that you may end up damaging your tissues through these vaping pens as well. This is why you need to be cautious in not letting vaping take over your nicotine addiction and become equally addictive.

Why is vaping as harmful as smoking?

Vaping is considered equally damaging as smoking a regular cigarette as it creates a feeling of tobacco smoking with the help of an e-cigarette. Being equally addictive as smoking a cigarette, the following reasons may succeed in convincing you to stop vaping these electronic gadgets as well.

  • Vaping can be toxic:

According to research, the e-cigarettes used for vaping may contain several types of toxins encompassed in the vaping liquids. These toxins are said to form when the liquid gets heated due to the coil present in the electronic pens.

A number of these pollutants are carcinogenic in nature, leading to chances of cancer. Though comparatively less than usual cigarettes, but still – cancer! The research further notes that it is still better to vape if it is certain that you are not able to give up your traditional smoking habits.

  • Vaping causes damage to blood vessels:

Just like normal cigarettes, vaping pens too cause adverse effects on the blood vessels in the body. A study showed that vaping led to tightening of the blood vessels that increased the chances of a stroke in the body.

  • Vaping leads to dehydration:

We all know the complications that arise due to loss of water in the body and vaping may actually promote this issue, leading to a deteriorated health. This happens due to the presence of vegetable glycerin or propylene glycol in vaping liquid fumes that have a tendency to absorb water.

Thus when a person vapes, the fumes absorb the water from the mucus-based membranes and exhale them from the body in the form of vaping fumes. This could lead to several medical issues such as nosebleed, headache, coughing, sore throat, dry eyes, dry mouth, dry skin, etc.

  • Vaping can lead to fatal allergies:

As mentioned above, vaping liquids contain chemicals like propylene glycol that also have a tendency to cause mild to severe allergies in vapers. So anyone who experiences such allergic reactions may need to stop vaping such e-cigarettes to ensure a healthy lifestyle.

No doubt we can say that vaping is harmful but not as harmful as traditional smoking. The very purpose of designing these electronic sticks was to make people quit smoking. And many actually did choose this alternative over the latter. But this does not make them healthy. It only delays your march towards an unhealthy body. Promoting vaping may have a positive side but restricting teenagers from trying this out should be a step that ought to be taken.
